Summary: ER was developed by Michael Crichton for Amblin’ Entertainment and is distributed by Warner Bros. and broadcast on NBC-TV. It has consistently been in the Top 5 programs in the Nielsen TV Ratings for the six seasons it has been on the air. It has made a movie star of George Clooney and because of her work on ER opened the door for Mimi Leder to become a feature film director at DreamWorks SKG. ER is a medical drama that focuses on the life and death decisions made in the emergency room of a Chicago hospital. The show is a drama that is shot and edited as an action film. The hyperkinetic pacing attempts to help the audience feel the stress and emotional impact found in that environment. The per episode cost makes it, the most expensive TV series in the history of television.

The last remaining human beings exist in the ordered, efficient confinement of sterile space stations under a totalitarian system of government. Unfortunately, children are dying from the Syndrome, a degenerative disease caused by the absence of fresh air, fresh water and sunlight. Devon Adair (Debrah Farentino) desperate to save her 8-year-old son, defies the totalitarian authorities and organizes an expedition to a distant planet suitable for colonization. USA, COMEDY/Animation, 30 Minutes, Color, TV Aspect Ratio 1.33 : 1

Universal Pictures / Warner Brothers / Amblin’ / Nelvana

Summary: Family Dog was a cartoon that ran on CBS in 1993 in primetime. It was a "spin-off" from episode 40 of Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories TV series entitled "Family Dog" that was broadcast February 16, 1987. The story premise was that a mischievous dog was own by an unloving family. The series was executive produced by Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg. Initially, Burton and Spielberg were concerned about the quality of the first episode, so it was hidden away until ten additional programs were "in the can." The shows were produced in 1992 and aired in the summer of 1993. It did not have great ratings at the time, but definitely has a cult following today.

Summary: This was the pilot episode of the series. Irvin Kershner, who had directed The Empire Strikes Back for George Lucas, helmed it. Its creator was the SF guru Rockne S. O'Bannon. The storyline presumes that man colonizes the oceans sometime in the 21st Century under the United Earth Oceans, which is a paramilitary organization designed to protect the seven seas. Nathan Bridger (Roy Scheider), who retired after the death of his wife to study dolphins on a deserted island, is coaxed out of his self-imposed retirement. Nathan was the designer of the UEO’s most advanced submarine, SeaQuest DSV, and resumes command of it.

Summary: A troubled, expensive science fiction series that never found an audience large enough to justify its production cost on network television, despite rethinking the series concept for the third season. Throughout its tenure there were frequent cast changes designed to boost ratings. It is a credit to Amblin’s clout that the series lasted as long as it did. Basically it presumes that man colonizes the oceans sometime in the 21st Century under the United Earth Oceans, which is a paramilitary organization designed to protect the seven seas. Nathan Bridger (Roy Scheider), who retired after the death of his wife to study dolphins on a deserted island, is coaxed out of his self-imposed retirement. Nathan was the designer of the UEO’s most advanced submarine, SeaQuest DSV, and resumes command of it. His second in command is Cmdr. Jonathan Ford. In second season, the DSV added a prototype GELF (Genetically Engineered Life Form), Tony Piccolo, to the crew. He was a man with surgically implanted gills. Dr. Wendy Smith, a telepath/empath, was also added to this crew of specialists. The New Age leanings of the series, often analyzed environmental issues mixing fact with myth and fantasy storylines to what had begun as an action-science fiction project.

High Incident (1996)

Donwell Productions / DreamWorks SKG / American Broadcasting Company (TV Series)

USA, DRAMA/Thriller, 60 Minutes, Black and White & Color, Aspect Ratio 1.33 : 1

Summary:

This was a police drama that was played as an action movie. It was a fast paced look at police officers of the El Camino Police Department. High Incident attempted to take viewers into the trenches. The series dealt with the unpredictability of crime in suburbia. High Incident attempted a mix of action, comedy, and drama, following nine uniformed police officers through the day. The title refers to the radio call -- Code 2/High Incident. DreamWorks, SKG produced and it was sold to ABC in March 1996 as a mid season replacement. ABC renewed its contract and purchased 22 more episodes of the series.  High Incident then aired every Thursday night against Friends on NBC.  The series never rose above the bottom rungs of the ratings ladder. On May 1997, ABC dropped High Incident.

1998 Film Originated Television Series – Director Andy Cadiff "In the Heat of the Day"

Summary: Spin City was created by screenwriter and director Gary David Goldberg. It is the first TV "sit-com" hit produced by DreamWorks SKG. It is a very smart and quick-witted political spoof. Spin City is a very highly rated series with a superior ensemble cast led by Michael J. Fox. Fox plays Mike Flaherty the Deputy-Mayor of New York City. He and his less than competent team must constantly save the Mayor from embarrassment and the media.

One of the comic features of the show is the "stand-up" unpredictable and catastrophic press conferences of the mayor (Barry Bostwick). As the ABC promo says Spin City "puts a hilarious spin on the staid and stodgy world of big city government. Who says politics aren't a laugh?"
