I. Science (from scientia --knowledge) is the systematic study of a body of knowledge (truths as opposed to ignorance or misunderstandings or untruths), which are provable by the scientific method about the physical world and the natural phenomena within that physical world.

A. 1828 Webster’s Dictionary Science is "in a general sense is knowledge, or certain knowledge; the comprehension or understanding of truth or facts by the mind. The science of God must be perfect and therefore not understandable.

B. Science is the study of the nature and behavior of natural things and the knowledge that we obtain about them.

C. Natural Science is the systematic study of bodies of knowledge in physics, chemistry, biology, etc. that deal with matter and energy and other objectively measurable phenomena.

3. Metallurgy is the study of the science and technology of metals.

4. Biology is the study of living organisms (the characteristic life processes and phenomena of living organisms both plant and animal).

ii. Agrobiology is the study of plant nutrition and growth as a way to increase crop yield.

iii. Agrology is the science of soils.

b. Zoology is the scientific study of animals.

c. Palaeobiology deals with the origin and growth and structure of fossil animals and plants.

d. Ecology (Environmental Science is concerned with the relations between organisms and their environment.

e. Genetics (Genetic Science) studies heredity variation in organisms.

f. Physiology deals with the functioning of organisms.

g. Medicine (Medical Science) is study and practice physical health.

6. Geology (Earth Science) is the study of the history of the earth as recorded in rocks.

a. Geophysical Science uses physical principles to study properties of the earth.

b. Mineralogy studies minerals: their structure and properties and the ways of distinguishing them.

7. Geography studies the earth's surface; includes people's responses to topography and climate and soil and vegetation.

a. Oceanography studies the physical and biological aspects of the oceans.

i. Limnology studies the physical and biological aspects of bodies of fresh water for their biological and physical and geological properties.

ii. Hydrology studies water on the earth and in the atmosphere: its distribution and uses and conservation.

b. Volcanology studies volcanoes.

c. Seismology studies earthquakes.

8. Meteorology studies the phenomena of the atmosphere; especially weather processes and weather forecasting.

9. Physics is the science of matter and energy and their interactions.

a. Astronomy is the branch of physics that studies celestial bodies and the universe as a whole.

i. Celestial Mechanics is concerned with the application of Newton's laws of motion to the motions of heavenly bodies.

ii. Astrodynamics studies the motion of natural and artificial bodies in space.

iii. Astrophysics is concerned with the physical and chemical properties of celestial bodies.

iv. Solar Physics deals with the sun and its energy.

v. Aeronautics (Aeronautical Engineering) is the theory and practice of navigation through air or space.

c. Electronics (Electronic Engineering) is that part of physics which deals with the emission and effects of electrons and with the use of electronic devices.

d. Nuclear Physics (Atomic Engineering) studies the internal structure of atomic nuclei and its applications.

e. Thermodynamics is concerned with the conversion of different forms of energy.

f. Optics studies the physical properties of light.

D. Cognitive Science is the field concerned with cognition; cognitive psychology, linguistics, computer science, neuroscience and philosophy of mind are relevant areas of study

1. Information Science is concerned with the gathering, classifying, manipulating, storing and retrieving of recorded information.

2. Computer Science is concerned with the theory and application of computer technology.

3. Robotics is concerned with the practical use of robots and the theoretical possibility of thinking machines with artificial intelligence.

4. Strategics is the study of the art of strategy (strategic planning).

5. Systematics is the study of systematic classification.

6. Linguistics is the scientific study of the philosophy of language.

7. Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols.

E. Social Science is the scientific study of societies and the behaviors of individuals and groups within the parent society.

1. Psychology is the study of mental life (individual mental processes and health).

2. Sociology is the branch of Social Science that studies societies and the relationships of individuals, communities, and organized social groups within societies.

3. Anthropology is the study of human beings

II. Christian Science is the religion founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866 and is organized under the official name of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

A. It derives its teachings from the biblical scriptures (as understood by its adherents). It practices spiritual healing.

B. It teaches that cause and effect are mental and that sin, sickness, and death can be destroyed by a full understanding of the divine principle of Jesus' teaching and healing.

III. Paranormal Science refers to extrasensory (vs. sensory) communication or understanding seemingly outside normal sensory channels.

A. Clairvoyance is perception beyond the natural range of the senses.

B. Telegnostic is having knowledge of distant events allegedly without use of normal sensory mechanisms.

C. Telepathic is communication without apparent physical signs or symbols.
